Actually, it is a 1910/14, 1923 is the year of manufacture. a good resource: https://unblinkingeye.com/Guns/MP-III/mp-iii.html

I'd do a function check as that slide is impacting your bolt stop and should not..... cock the hammer and put one hand on the barrel, then grasp the bolt charging handle/wings and attempt to pull the bolt open.  Do not touch the lower frame.

The bolt should not move...it should be locked by the 2 lugs.  If it does move more than a minute fraction you have a non working locking system.  Mismatched parts or seriously worn lugs of the bolt or lug block.... or the internals are not functional as designed. This would create a blow back operation that is dangerous in that C 96.

Check this.... cock the pistol/hammer.... grasp the barrel only, not touching the lower frame, and pull on the bolt cocking wings to see if you can 'open' the breech.  There should be no movement, or very very slight.  If it moves more than that you basically have a direct blow back non locking piece that is totally out of spec at the locking lugs.

Safety lever?  The firing pin guide bolt stop?  If you are cracking those you are using ammunition that is too hot and/or all of your springs need replacing..recoil/hammer spring as the internal hammer spring also retards recoil.
I reload for my 111 year old C 96 but it is a tight pistol with original tolerances...if the pistol  is 'loose' by a Wolfe spring kit with a 10% increase in recoil retardation.
If it is Chinese and not a real Mauser good luck.

There is no way that should happen and you have an issue.  Replace all springs ..recoil/Firing pin and the internal hammer spring.
Also, replace the bolt stop with  a new one for safety.
The bolt should never return that far...

Congratulation and welcome to the club!
I assume these are intended to be 'shooters' so let me first remind that you that should replace the recoil and hammer springs at least, since both are used to keep the bolt locked during firing.
  Now to your questions:
Do they have matching serial numbers (should be in 4 locations I think), and what mfg date do the numbers on the frame indicate (I think these are M30's in 7.63mm like mine).
Have you disassembled them and what condition are the interiors, firing pin, and bolt stop in?
How are the barrels, and locking lugs (compare the bolts side-by-side).
Yes replace the grips if they do not look original, and pay attention under the grips for rust and coat the inside of the grips with wax to prevent moisture from building up.
Stamps: If you are in the USA then some of the stamps might be importer marks, and these can be a challenge to identify (mine had none).
Tokarev ammo will fit but might be too hot so only shoot proper 7.63. But you can pull the tok bullets, dump the powder, and reload them.

Model 1910 Pistol / Serial number on a 1910
« Last post by Sting2015 on September 30, 2023, 01:42:20 PM »
I am new to the forum. Just joined ten minutes ago. I looked for a recent topic thread regarding my question, but the most recent one was in 2017, so I thought I'd start a new thread. I have just purchased a nice Model 1910 with a serial number of 243254. Based on what I've read on this forum, and on other sites, I'm guessing it was manufactured in 1924, but thought I see if any members had more info.

I'm particularly interested in any charts you could point me to, as I also have a 1914 and a 1934, and would be interested in nailing down production dates on them as well. I have a good general idea, based on my research, but I enjoy finding out as accurately as possible the manufacturing date.

Thanks in advance for any information that anyone might offer.

I've used XTP 90 gn. in my 7.65 Luger (same .30 cal as 7.63 Mauser is a .308) if your bore is like new/newish the .308 86 gn will work well but if slightly worn the XTP 90 gn .309 will print better.

C96 / C12 Broomhandle / Help pick and need stamp ID
« Last post by buttermut on September 23, 2023, 11:38:11 AM »
Brought home 2 c96 yesterday.  Funny thing is I got both off gunbroker and both listing ended about 1 min of each other and 2 different sellers. I couldn’t make up my mind on which to get so I said screw it. I’ll get both and keep the one I want and sell the other. The lanyard ring I will put on the one I would keep. Grips, probably will find a replacement online somewhere.
Prices on both were too good to pass up.
Now the dilemma. I can’t figure which one I want. Like the quote from highlander, “ there can only be one”😂. So I need y’all help picking and stamp ID.,
Both in similar shape and built about the same time. The stamps I am talking about. One is on each  c96.
I do have another stamp, it’s marked “Germany” on each side in small writing, is on #2 pistol in the picture. That’s not the pistol that has the star.  Love to figure what they are.  Thanks in advance.

Model HSC Pistol / Re: HSc 380 Tritium sights
« Last post by eprenzlow on September 19, 2023, 06:15:17 AM »
To start off, neither Trijicon, TRUGLO or Meprolight make night sights for the HSc.

Additionally, if you were to find a set, only the rear sight is dovetailed into the slide. The front sight is integral to the slide. You would have to find a custom maker to drill the front sight and install a tritium ampule, and I don’t believe there’s enough depth to do so.

The job, if possible would probably cost more tan the value of the pistol while ruining its collector value as Vlim has alluded.
