OK guys.  A guy wins 6 bronze stars and an air medal with 4 oak leaf clusters and no one wants to comment.  Strange.

Boone said there was a DFC left off.  He left service at Jefferson Barracks.  I entered service at Jefferson Barracks.

I am pleased you enjoyed it.  I have another military form that will be exciting to read.  I have a little back ground on it.  It is most interesting.  The story is a good as the form.  Hoping all enjoy the history of our nation.

Great, great article.  Thank you for that super information.  What is really interesting that I find, my dad's V-Mail was written 9 November 1943 at Epswitch, England, then delivered to Grand Dad in SW Missouri just 48 hours latter on 11 November.  Someone had this system down pat!  It is interesting to read that dad knew the war was over in November 1943 and that he would probably be home in the Spring.  He just picked the wrong spring.  Thank you again for that great info.  I now have his service number, which I never had before plus his squadron number along with his bomb group.  I knew his group number, but not the squad number.  Best regards,

Jim

Who has ever heard of V-Mail?   My 97 year old aunt died and we sold off her personal property yesterday.  I got to buy my dad's V-Mail.  How the heck did it work?  I will post a photo, but it will be of little use.  This is not tele-type.  Does any one understand how it functioned?

Thank you.

Model HSC Pistol / Re: It's Back!

The auction house said they had received two calls on this example.  After those calls they decided to pull the pistol and another example by the owner from the sale.

I have a call in.   I will try to get you an answer as to why it was pulled.

I have been watching that.  That poor example should be put out of its misery.  I would buy it for the grips, but they look somewhat odd as well.   Plus I would not pay the starting bid.

I will try and shoot a good photo of the double edge of the saw.  The top edge is angle cut with cross cut edges.  It looks like a shadow in the photo, but it is not.  Thanks for looking.   (Should have bought another HSc)

It was advertised as a pre 1916 K98 bayonet.  After getting it home (and paying a healthy price for it), I looked up the proofs and did my homework.  It turns out to be an M1914 Pioneer bayonet that is Swiss proofed and made by H. St. manufacture.  It fits the Swiss 7.5, K31 rifle.  Not a very popular rifle and not very popular shells to obtain.   it is a low serial number, but that means very little.  I think I paid for an education.  It is bad butt cool looking, I must say and chain saw sharp.  Let me post a few photos of my learning experience.  Having a little trouble loading my phone photos.  I took an M1914 Pioneer photo off the web to show.  I will continue to attempt to download my photos.  I evidently don't know much about long guns.  I really wanted this to fit a K98.  With enough duct tape, it will.   I promise you no one will be yanking on it from the business end.    Top photo is the 2 foot monster attached on a K31 Swiss,

Bought a wild looking bayonet.  It is called a M1914 Pioneer.  Swiss cross proofed with manufacture H. St.   Just an unreal piece of steel.

Wished I was closer.  Sorry to be of no assistance, but good luck on that nice weapon.
