Title: HSc Stamping or Proof Mark
Post by: jcorl on January 21, 2016, 02:53:17 PM
I seek the help of identification on the attached photo.  At first I believed it to be an antler proof mark.  After several hours of research with no success, I seek the forums help.  I no longer am sure it is an antler.  My wife thinks it is a humming bird flying thru a lock.  That leaves a wide margin for your interpretation.  It is on an HSc slide.

Thank you in advance for your input.

Jim,

The most likely explanation for this marking in my opinion: A German dealer marking, applied by the dealer who sold it commercially.

I have to agree.  After ten hours of computer searching and talking to many people, nothing was found that linked it to a state or manufacture or inspector or importer. I think you hit it on the head with that likely possibility.  I sure did learn allot about proof marks from all over the world.  Thank you for your research.
