I was wondering what year and the branch of Military received this gun. I suspect that my Granfather some how brought this back when returning from war along with a rifle. Number on the gun 774 132, # on barrel and slide match hand written on slide. Proof on right guard right slide and barrel, Holster #0.549 Thanks Craig O

Welcome to the Forum, Craig! An inquiry was made on this HSc back in September 2010, I suspect by your Grandfather. Unfortunately, that was an older version of this Forum so it's not available for review.
You now have a very collectible Early Wartime German Navy (Kriegsmarine) HSc produced in May 1942. Depending on its condition, it could be valued at over $1,200. If the Holster is also Navy with a Manufacturer's Mark, it would increase the value even more as this would then be viewed by collectors as a "rig". The "0.549" doesn't mean anything.
For now, DO NOT STORE IT IN THE HOLSTER, as this would deteriorate the finish (bluing). Field strip and lubricate it carefully. Anything else, let me know.

I would like to see more of the holster, if you have the time? The back of it at the bottom might have a mark on it.

The "0.549" doesn't mean anything.
The "O.549" is most likely a Navy "Ostsee" property mark similar to the one shown on this K98k.
-
That would mean it's a WWI vintage Navy Holster.
-
No it wouldn't. The K98k shown was either a 39 or 40 dated rifle. You can even see a straight winged eagle proof on the disc.

Pretty stock and a nice HSc.

Interesting repair. Any mark on the back toe of that holster? Might be really faint. Thank you for posting.
