Model 1914 Pistol / Re: Trigger Guard Eagle
« on: November 25, 2019, 12:58:42 PM »
One sold on gb yesterday notadvernot ad as anything but a 1914 . Thought for a minute I might get it but someone wanted it more. Well I wanted to go higher but I really should save my money for a variation I don't have

Unfortunately It does have condition issues which impacts value. Also if you look at the front sight it looks to me that the tip of the sight has been ground or filed down which also hurts. With that in mind I think it's worth more in parts than a complete pistol. Sorry for the bad news but that's how I see it.

Pretty much to get a decent deal on one those it has to be advertised as a plain 1914. That's how I got both of mine. Almost bought a third but a couple of other pistols had depleted my gun fund

Model 1934 Pistol / Re: Early 1934 Naval Pistol Marking

I wont be a buyer for this one as its going price far exceeds my budget at the moment. but its interesting to get other opinions. its a minefield to collect for sure. I already have this variation in my collection which is nice and I bought it advertised as a common 1914.

I am curious on other thoughts about this one. The marking seems quite out of sequence as this would be near the end of the droop wing eagle marking. It's also marked different way than the 5-6 other examplrs I know of including my own.
But I am always looking for other opinions and to expand my knowledge https://www.gunbroker.com/item/838758204

So now 485,611 is a Japanese contract pistol.

I followed the discussion on the Luger forum and thought there was some good information that was shared. Ultimately I  wish the dealer kept them on the original pistol as now even though it's not far away serial number wise the next set of collectors won't know that it's not original to that pistol

Originally they appeared on pistol serial # 485,611. Then a week or so ago it was not listed at all . Now they are on the pistol 494,332 and the plain grips are on serial 485,611 which is still for sale but at a much reduced price

The pistol that had the grips on it originally is now just listed as a transitional 1914/34

Slightly discouraging to see, but I think it's underhanded. Pre98 Has changed the grips from one late 1914 to a different late 1914. I emailed them asking what the story was. No reply so far

If it is acid etched rather than engraved is it still possible to be a factory option?
