I'm a 73 year old Vietnam Era Verteran. Went into the Army 1969 after high school graduation. I have problems with posting pictures, because my laptop camera is not working. I'll do my best.
I have an 1899 Oviedo Spanish Mauser. 17 and 1/2 inch barrel, flat bottomed bolt, magazine floor plate falls down after pushing release. Turned down bolt handle. All matching serial numbers. SN is very low, 1069. There is a saddle ring under stock at wrist. Rear sight is 2 inches long and a button on right side of slide. Graduated out to 1600 yards. The rifle is in 7mm. The stock has a number of carvings on it. Overall length of rifle is 37 inches. No hole for cleaning rod.
Here's my question to you folks.............. All Mauser carbines that I have seen have there stock go all the way to muzzle crown and then a steel end cap that has front sight ear protectors. My stock ends with a barrel band 3 and 1/8 inches from muzzle crown. I see no reason to make me think that this was some sort of cut-down. This one has me stumped and I hoping someone has an idea as to what this thing is. Nice stock with a lot of character, metal is in great condition, bore is very good.
Original leather sling. No cut out for thumb while using stripper clip. Bolt action is very smooth.

I recently inherited a large ring hammer from my late grandpa and not familiar at all with antique guns. I'd like to be able to fire it but know I should probably get the inner-workings looked at beforehand. Are there any gunsmiths (hopefully in the west) that can just get it looked at and make any necessary repairs to bring it back into proper condition?

KAR 98K Rifle / M98 front Lug crack

Has anyone come across a crack in the top-front M98 Lug?
It seems to have a crack at the bottom of the lug on one side, although it could possibly be a gouge. The receiver & bolt are new. I have shot about 30 rounds only. The receiver and bolt are original but have not been used at all since the time of manufacture in Brno, Czech Republic, some 70 years ago. I am attaching a photo. I would be grateful to hear what you think this is, a gouge or a crack, and whether I should change the bolt. Thank you in advance.

there is also next life. and i already proved you that no scientist, no politician, no so-called intelligent man in this world is able to understand this Truth. cuz they are imagining. and you cannot imagine what is god, who is god, what is after life etc.

if you still don,t believe on me then chant any other name for 5 Min's and chant this holy name for 5 Min's and you will see effect. i promise you it works And chanting at least 16 rounds ( each round of 108 beads ) of the Hare Krishna maha-mantra daily.
