Stamped 1941 Holster for Mauser HSc

I just inherited a Mauser HSc 7.65 mm pistol, with serial number 768234. The pistol grips are real wood.  It came in a leather holster with stamped marking in the corner.  As best as I can read it, the stamp reads, "KernKlager&Cle" in the top line.  Underneath these letters is stamped, "1941".  Under the 1941 is stamped "Berlin".  What can the holster tell me about the gun, if anything.

Welcome to the Forum.  From your description you have a unique Holster used by the German Luftwaffe (Airforce).  If it has not been modified, it could be worth several hundred dollars.

Your Early Wartime HSc was produced in April 1942.  Look on the left side of the Trigger Guard near the Grip.  The symbols there (if any) will tell me what part of the German Armed Forces it was assigned to.  There are also three serial numbers that should match but you will have to disassemble the pistol to check on these.  All this and, of course, overall condition are critical to its value.

On your holster it's Kern Klager and Cie.

If we are nitpicking, it's actually Kern Kläger & Cie.


The umlaut above the a is important as it alters the pronounciation of the letter. In a digital form ä can also be written as ae. Simlar to Goering and Göring, for example.


ä has more of an e sound, while a has more of an ah sound.

On the inside of the holster flap, what does it say?   I post the German Air Force drop wing proof stamp located on my holster.

    There is nothing stamped on the inside of the holster flap.  I am working on taking some clear and up close pics of the pistol and the holster.  Will upload as soon as I have them.
