Unique C96 Pistol Identification
« on: November 29, 2013, 04:23:59 PM »
Strangest C96 I have ever seen. Its a prewar production dated around 1905. Has a 6.2 inch barrel and is chamber in 7.63x25mm. The markings appear to be german but may have been stamped over.

Hi Chancock,
Your C96 looks like it's a transitional Model 1930, these appear around the 730,000 serial range and run until the 800,000 range. The gun still bears vestiges of the Wartime commercial guns but has features that are commonly found in the Model 1930 (i.e. stepped barrel & lanyard loop in the same axis as the gun).
regards,
Broomie
