Inherited Waffen Fabrik Mauser Oberndorf 1900
« on: April 28, 2013, 10:09:27 AM »
Hi All,

I just recently inherited a Waffen Fabrik Mauser Oberndorf 1900. I have taken this to a variety of gun shops locally, but no one can seem to identify the model/year made, etc..... (I have heard K93 or K98, but none of the pictures seem to exactly match what i have. I have not been able to find a model with the site that i have (serial matches the rifle).  I was also wondering what the value may be for this rifle? Took it out and shot great. If anyone has a lead on the 6.5x55 ammo at a good price, please let me know.

From my limited experience, I'm gonna guess you have a 6.5x55 Swedish
mauser M96 built in Germany in 1900. Before the Swedes had their production
lines established, they farmed out production to German factories but on the
terms that they used Swedish specs and Swedish steel.
The true value of this weapon is that you have it in your collection. It is
a keeper!

Looks a lot like a Gewehr 98 rifle.  But I'm no expert.

I was just guessing Swedish 94 or 96 based on cb1974's request
for a source of 6.5x55 ammo.
